Technique

Since 1987, we’ve been creating the first bricks available that are individually hand painted and permanent. Our proprietary glaze works on tiles too. It acts as a bonding agent. We paint all text and colored images on unfired glaze that sink into the glaze during firing to permanently fuse into the brick.

Each of our bricks and tiles are little pieces of artwork that are hand glazed and decorated in our studio tucked away in the mountains of North Carolina.

Our hand-painted bricks are in numerous library walls and walkways. We work directly with clients, designing and customizing bricks and tiles.

We create with our hands. Undulations and surface variations, tonal responses in glazes, eclectic art from donors and children all connect clients closer to the art and community of their contributors. See the human qualities of communities instead of machine marks.

Our bricks and tiles function as architectural enhancements that activate with the environment. The emphasis is on good drawing and composition from single brick or tile to an entire wall.
